Barbara Unell—a parent educator, journalist, and former columnist for the Kansas City Star—is a founder of Twins magazine and the school-based character-education program “Kindness Is Contagious… Catch It!” She holds degrees in journalism and psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, specializing in cause-related marketing, public relations, and nonprofit strategic planning. She coauthored popular child development books with Jerry Wyckoff, PhD, including Getting Your Child from No to Yes and Discipline Without Shouting or Spanking. Her television appearances include CBS’s The Early Show, Oprah, NBC Nightly News, Good Morning America, and Today. She lives in suburban Kansas City with her husband, Robert, and is the mother of adult twins.
